Hello guys ! i've been watching the rig rundown video for M.Batio and he says personally that he doesn't use the stock tubes in his Marshall amp . So any idea on what tubes is he talking about ? Does he still use Marshall or DV mark instead ?and what does he prefer ? thank you for your time fellas.

He told he he A/B'd his Marshals and the DV Marks after he got them dialed in and he couldn't tell the difference.

thank you for your reply BKW . So in your opinion , to get as close as i can to his tone i should use the DV mark or Marshall amp ( head and cabinet ) ? btw does the DV mark come with a cabinet as well ? ( Forgive my ignorance regarding this subject )

When I saw MAB in concert in June he used DV Mark heads and cabinets. I have checked a couple places on line and so far have not seen a head / cabinet package. I'm sure they are out there. I haven't looked too hard though.

Don't bother about different tubes brands for tone. You will never know the difference, the reason to use different brands is purely for quality reasons. I know Michael said he always buy "Russian" tubes so you can exclude all non russian tube manufacturers For a MAB sound, buy a Marshall. Or if you want something that is more modern and capable of more type of sounds and is very light to carry around go with a DV Mark

I don't know what settings MAB use on his overdrive but I would guess that he doesn't use much of the "gain" on the pedal. But I'm not sure, so don't take my word for it.
They way I used it when I had it and the way I always use Tubescreamer pedals are with moderate "gain" and with a lot of "volume/output". I always find tubescreamer pedals to sound way to harsh and fizzy when using too much of the "gain", that knob never goes pass 12 O'clock for me. usually a lot less than that, I use the "Volume" to push the amp instead and set the "Tone" differently depending on what guitar I use and what type of sound I want.
I think the biggest key to get that MAB, liquid and aggressive but yet smooth shredding neck tone is to have the right type of humbucker in the neck. Preferably a fairly hot pickup with ceramic magnet. Then boost the upper mids on the amp a lot, preferably use a Marshall. Then add the MAB pedal to get a bit more crunch and tightness, it also adds smootheness. I think thats the most important aspects to get a similar sound.

Thank you blue ! you are always the greatest help i will surely consider all what you've said and hope this will all work out eventually . I am not trying to imitate MAB or something , but there is something about that tone and i guess we all agree , that is fantastic and mind bending !

No problem man, it's just nice to see someone still writing on the forum these days! I didn't think you were trying to copy him, it's impossible to play as clean and fast as he does anyway Yes his sound is really great for fast playing, it has a really thick and smooth sound but still very clear for fast picking even in the low register. I think that MAB and Paul Gilbert has the best shredding tones in the low register of the players that use humbuckers. It's always good to have some inspiration when searching for new sounds in gear.
