That's a great idea. I'd love to see MAB on the cover, holding his double guitar, I think that alone would generate interest to buy the magazine off the shelf for people who don't know about MAB, since a lot of people have never seen a "double axe" before.
Slash was featured on the cover before and he's a monthly columnist, so why not MAB?

I am with you all on this. I'll sign up there and post later on today, as soon as I get some more free time. I think it would be cool if they did a poster of him as well

I think it's ridiculous that he hasn't been on the cover! I mean, who else has a freaking quad guitar, plays incredible, and is an amazing person?
BTW, when is the mag with his new sig lessons coming out? The one that fullshredd was at the filming?
*wrong button, my bad ;D

Slash was the most popular guitarist of the late 80's & early 90's and STILL has hardcore fans who buy anything with his name or face on- that's why he is on the cover of mags.
To warrant Guitar World having a cover issue of Mike, they'll have a target sales figure in mind and accurately estimate whether or not it will acheive that figure or close to it (taking away subscriptions).
Now, even if EVERY fan of MAB in the world bought it, it probably still wouldn't warrant doing a cover issue.
I hate to be the pessimistic one, but that's business.
Of course i agree with everyone, Mike should have a cover issue, main feature with a couple of FULL song tabs (other than "No Boundaries"), discography, gear round up etc.
But that hasn't happened with 99% of the players i'm inspired by so i can almost guarantee it wont happen as Mike's fan base stands.
I also wouldn't base Mike getting a cover issue cos of his quad/double guitar; over-under or being a nice person.
While very original for the guitar part & true for being a great guy, it's Guitar World & should be about genuine playing.
Now, luckily Mike has added a fair bit to this little shindig we call shred.
His tone is completely original, no-one sounded like him previously and no-one has successfully copied him since.
He has sench a new and VERY high benchmark for technique. People though Yngwie was THE ***, no-one would pass him, there's no way etc- but Mike has & i would say a few others have as well.
Mike is as close to technically flawless and i've heard. Only maybe 4 or 5 other guitarists are in his league in that regard.
His music- whether you love or hate it is original.
His vibrato is great which can't be said for other players in shred.
There are loads of reasons to have 1 issue based on Mike, but it wont happen unfortunately.
We should all go V for Vendetta on Guitar World...............

Guitar Techniques (which is the best mag in the world IMO) would be a good bet.
They had a Cooley feature (BIG feature) and while he is very good, he aint THAT good so i'll e-mail them & ask if they can do a technique breakdown (a few licks for the techniques) and cd-rom.
That'd be awesome.
Young Guitar is possible too, they've had some great players on their cover...... and Alexi Laiho.
So we should concentrate on those 2 mags cos i think at the end of the day, GW are ruled by figures and not quality. SBT.

Keep the faith and e mail every Guitar Magazine you can! I have had "cover" stories in many major guitar magazines around the world. "Burn" from Japan being one of them and one of the biggest. NEVER SAY NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The new Quad Emoticons) I'll do everything I can to help. IMHO you are the greatest player and the coolest guy! Thanks for your dedication. Can't wait to see you again at a clinic or something! BTW, I'm listing to "I Can't Take It No More" right now.

Here's the Guitar Techniques mag e-mail: guitar.tech@futurenet.co.uk
Tomorrow when i'm not high on espresso & can form a sentence correctly, i'm gonna e-mail something along the lines of (obviously i'll buff it up) "Mike doing an article like Cooley, transcription of "..." (i don't know which song, i'll give a list of 5 or so).
There is a problem with finding someone who can actually play it since cd's come with the mag.
Steve Allsworth has chops. Govan is great but completely different to this type of playing so it may sound odd.
I'd do it if i didn't ***. Lol.

At Borders Books they come w/ the DVD. I think most big box book stores carry GW w/ the DVD with the plastic wrap.

Cooley isn't that good, but I have to admit, those wide stretch diatonic legatos are awesome. Mike definitely needs an issue dedicated to him in the major guitar magazines, though. Technically he is flawless and miles ahead of the "shredders" that frequently appear on magazines.

"Yes, I think it would be awesome for Michael Angelo Batio to grace the cover of GW. I love the columns, and feel that the fact he hasn't graced the cover, as of yet, is tragic. Who better then one of the most extreme and techniquely proficent guitarists of all time? There is so much about this man that I feel makes him more then worthy of a cover, but I'll leave it at this for now. Also, I think he and one of his guitars ae, double, quad, and or his new sig guitar would make a nice poster " That is what I put. I was gonna do it under my user name here, but it seems it has been taken??? I don't think I ever signed up there??? Anyhow, I would have done this yesterday, had I not broken my foot, hahaha!

If he went at 75% he TRIES to do, he'd be alot better. His licks in the GT issue are good licks (to practice). The legato licks are complete Lane & Holdsworth rip-offs though. Lol. GLP loves Cooley.

Considering the footage was shot on 09/17 that's a tough call. I'll email MAB and find out.
