MAB himself has one of these puppies -- one of my favorites. -1988 100% fully original EC-29 with OHSC -working midboost -29 frets -ebony fretboard -neck-thru construction -Hardended steel string-thru 600T tremelo -Red Magma crackle $1100 shipped. PM or contact me at darreno27@gmail.com This guitar is in excellent condition has been one of my most favorite guitars. It was Washburn's top-of-the line back in '88/'89 and the only neck-thru Stephens Extended Cutaway model ever made (SECs are mostly known as the bolt-on Nunos). A relic from the 80s hair days -- excellent mojo. This is has lately been sitting in it's case for years without playing time. I don't believe in hoarding, so here she goes.

That is an awesome looking guitar! I still have mine. It has a white "crackle" finish.

Yep! I remember seeing that one. Washburn made some good guitars back in the late 80s/early 90s. I played the USA MG series which were produced when Grover Jackson was in charge of the custom shop -- good quality. It's too bad they didn't sell well enough. I would keep this lovely being, but I've been picking up this little friend when I have to chose:

It's a beaut alright. And I can't get my mind off how intense the cutaway is.

The midboost is just a knob that increases/decreases mid-gain on the active pickups -- very similar to what the Charvel Model 6s had. It makes heavier distortion and sustain -- very powerful sound. I lay back on it when I use the neck single for clean sounds though.

darrend I'm curious about that blue and purple one... What notes does it produce after the 24th fret? Say on the high e? That's far out!

I removed frets for notes G#, A#, C#, and D# -- Eliminated dead spots from the tight scale. The notes are now whole notes that can be accessed easier. For example, the highest note is still a third-octave high e, but with no option for the # or flat because the fret next to it has been taken out and scalloped. In essence, I eliminated some sharp notes for whole notes so I could actually hit them without dead spots. The 25.5 scale length is too short to actually hit all 36 notes with ease. I'm actually in the process of creating a 7 string/36 fret guitar with a 27.5 scale length (baritone length) in order to hit the higher notes a litter better.
