Whats everyone think of that Orianthi chick? I didnt know who she was till MJ's "This Is It" So I been watching a bunch of her videos and she seems to have one of them 50/50 crowds. Half of the people love her cause she's a chick, the other half say we should judge her on her skill and not the fact that she's a girl. Personally I don't think thats fair. Whats the ratio between boy and girl guitar players? 500:1 I've never seen a girl play like her, so I think it's great!! Just like in golf, they don't put some lady up against Tiger. I know theres going to be people responding to this very post who would blow her outa the water and yet will never get the recogniton she gets. Is it fair? ehh I think it's called being different. If nutin else at least she's easy on the eyes.

Well she's attractive, successful and seems to be a pretty nice person at least in the interviews I've seen, so at the very least she makes a good role model. We definitely need more serious female guitarists.
I really enjoyed her video she did with Steve Vai, and I was pleasantly suprised to see it on the TVs at my gym last week.

Her song with Vai is the only one I like. Her voice is that of an air raid siren in my opinion.

I personally don't judge musicians by their sex (Martha Argerich, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Jacqueline du Pre, Mitsuko Uchida and Maria Callas all being great musicians even compared to males) but for some reason there doesn't seem to be a truly top notch female electric guitarist around, that I know of.
Orianthi is a slightly above mediocre player for this day and age and has only gotten the endorsements she has because she's a pretty girl. I know how endorsements work and don't really care beyond the obvious issue, but I have to tell it how it is.
Female players who aren't as aesthetically pleasing as Orianthi will not get endorsements or musical exposure and Orianthi represents the female guitarist about as much as Halle Berry does the black actress.

I've heard her work before. She's worked in our film industry too. Carlos Santana thinks very highly of the girl, and I respect Carlos. IMO, the girl is on a fine line between above-average and good. And if anyone of you were wondering, she's a hell lot better than THE GREAT KAT!! Worship me or die...what a loser...

I think she is good and an inspiration for young girls to actually learn the instrument rather then just look pretty. I don't have anything bad to say really. You don't have to be MAB or the a like to be good and be able to hold your own and make listenable music. Santana, Vai, Satch, Clapton and so on, none of them I would place in the shredder category personally... but they are all good and have had great careers. I would hate to see her smashed for the simple fact she is a female and isn't a lightening fast, must shred all the time player.

I thinks she's pretty talented, her looks helped her though, but she's still good, I like her voice and guitar playing. I have watched some blues videos by her, pretty cool.
