wow man was I surprised,...
On a whim awhile back I emailed Steve Blaze of Lillian Axe.
He ACTUALLY REPLIED BACK!
here is some of the email, after which we chatted a bit through yahoo messaging. The guy is incredibly nice, and I may get a chance to sit down with him if only briefly and ask a few questions:

Hello,
I'm addressing this to Steve Blaze personally.
I'm a 40 year old aspiring guitarist, currently taking lessons in Baton Rouge.
My instructor recently asked me what made me want to play guitar, who was my idol.
I thought for a second, and told him it was you,...lol
I can remember in around 1987 going to a club called Kyrles in Mansura Lousiana and seeing you
play there and thinking to myself,...".damn,...I gotta be able to do that one day".
Had a couple of questions for ya:
Would you ever tutor a student guitarist?
and do you have any words of inspiration,..or instruction on how to reach my goals
as a guitarist......how to stay focused.
Sincerest thanks if you take the time to respond to this.

Hey Seth! Thanks for the kind words. I taught students for many years, but due to my ridiculously hectic life, I didnt have time to do it anymore. I just couldnt commit to a weekly committment. There might be the chance of a possible occassional lesson but it's a long ride to Mandeville from Baton Rouge for you. Maybe we could work something out .
Just keep playing. Learn to play every album and song you can. It will develop your ear and songwriting skills. Being a great guitarist is one thing, but being a great musician is a whole new level. Find bandmates that share your same beliefs and desires to be successful. Say your prayers and live healthy. The rest will come!

Oh man,...
I didn't think I'd actually hear from you!
Hell man...I'll drop what I'm doing at any time just to maybe get one little session with you for like 30 minutes!
If you ever get a down day,..and
I could just pick your brains just for a few minutes,..it would be absolutely inspiring to me.
The way you approach passages,...and I'm especially referring to the older stuff,...like your first two albums....it's different from what I here of other players.
by the way..I drive from Avoyells parish to Baton Rouge everyday to work. This morning I was jamming on Misery loves company and Inside Out,...Nobody Knows,.......absolutely the best music there will ever be.
Thansk so much for the response man,..I really didnt expect it!
God Bless,....and Rock on my friend!
