So it's my turn to play guess what's in the box! I don't think I'm actually getting the box though since I'm getting it through a family friend who owns a music shop here...ANYWAYS! So I'm getting a new guitar, it is a Dean guitar, however I'm not telling what kind ;D
I'll give some hints as I wait for it to arrive, and in a sense this could be your first hint; its not coming for a while.

A MAB1 or CFH???

No its not an MAB Signature guitar sadly, I want to get an MAB-1 real bad but this came up first so I had to jump all over it.
Second clue: It's a signature guitar, but not MAB's.

K well... you didn't say anything about the CFH. But my next guess after those two would be a Rusty Cooley guitar. RC7X. My only other guess would be a VMNT.

I forgot about the CFH, but no its definitely not a CFH nor a VMNT but you're getting closer to guessing I'll admit that ;D

No sadly that would be a nice guitar to have though...
Next clue: Its an extended range guitar(this will probably help narrow it down =P)

You know that would be a very nice guitar to have, but its probably way out of the price range of this guitar lol, I'm surprised that this guitar I'm getting was even $900 considering the other models are expensive as hell.
Next clue: The guitar costs $899.99 before tax, the signature models above it cost $2,200+ before tax(bonus clue for you guys ;D)

Well, Zen, have to say you have me baffled. I checked the DCR line and do not see any "extended range" guitars. The only other new things I am seeing in the extended range is the RC7X wraith and RC8X. Other then that the ml Modifier 8 string. So, if it is outside of that man, you got me???

Well I gotta say it took a while but someone finally got it! I'll be getting the new Dean RC8X that is tuned from Low F# to High E. Here is a look at the specs for all of you curious about the guitar. I'll post pics once I get it but that probably won't be until June at least since it supposedly ships out May 30th from the manufacturers. www.deanguitars.com/rustycooley_rc7series.php#rc8xcbk

Thanks! I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been dying to try an 8 string after having my 7 string for a few years. The perfect opportunity arose when Schecter came out with the C-8 ATX Blackout but they discontinued them and have sold out in the model I wanted which was the natural wood finish. Then this thing came up for the same price PLUS more. Since its a Rusty Cooley signature it has an extra deep cutaway on the lower horn and I think the body wood was a better wood than the Schecter(mahogany if I'm correct). Other than that it had basically the same specs I desired, 8 strings, ebony fretboard, EMG 808s. So I had to buy it.

Do you know how many of the Lazers were made? And how many were signed? I don't.. but might be able to find out for you how many where made... as for signed... MAB will sign any guitar (especially his sig models) that anyone wants. So even if an original group was signed, more have been signed since then. So there is no way to know.

Just got my new Dean RC8X!! It plays very smooth and is an awesome guitar! The neck is very thin so it's very similar to playing my 7 string so it made the transition smooth coming from a 7 string and moving up to an 8 string.
