I enjoyed your performance. I'm curious, how long have you been playing guitar?

well blackjack , i first picked up the guitar at the age of 13 i'd say but by the time i really started digging it ( techniques and theory ) i was almost 15 . Now i am 25 and thanks to Michael i acquire new techniques day by day and he really is different from anybody else. I have studied and still study his Dvds and instructional videos and do recommend them for you all . He is your only help really. Now i am working on a new cover which is the finish line which i will be releasing as well next month or the month after hopefully . cheers !

You have made very good progress in your 10 years of playing seriously. I also studied quit a few of MABs instructional videos on VHS and then DVD. I've bought quite a few DVDs and CDs from him. Also I saw him play in Nitro back in late 1991 or early 1992. My best advice to you is since you have good technique now is to focus on writing your own songs. Being able to write your own good songs is what will separate you from other guitarists who also have good technique.

You're lucky. I wish I was independently wealthy. Unfortunately it takes a lot of money to live these days. It's amazing what it costs to even go out to a movie theater on a Friday night. Real estate is expensive as hell; there's a guy who just rented an efficiency in the high rise condominium building where I live. I have just a one bedroom condo but this guy rented an efficiency and he's paying $1600 a month in rent!!! He doesn't even get a bedroom for that; just one big room that serves as a living room and bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom.

i am sorry blackjack if i made it seem like i am wealthy or smtg lol , well i am not . It's just that i live in a war zone country where music is not THAT much appreciated . That's why i am planning on going to the states to live my music and meet MAB.Because here where i live , they make it very hard for you to live and create music that you are suppose to share with people in concerts , they think it is a waste of time and corruption and whatever , stupid mentalities..

I didn't really think you were necessarily independently wealthy, I was just kidding you. But on the internet things are very black and white so humor doesn't always come across well as there are no facial expressions or tone of voice to accompany it. I can certainly understand your wish to move to The USA but just keep in mind that things have changed drastically here since the peak of heavy metal and shred guitar and in general there has been a huge decrease in how much music is appreciated. We've just about completely lost one of our nation's most important cultural foundations as well as what was our nation's biggest export or one of them - music. In the 80s entertainment in general was our biggest export so why it wasn't protected more from what happened to it is a mystery to me. What country wants to lose its biggest export? We still have lots of movies being made; maybe that industry will be the next to fall. In the 80s and early 90s there were so many nightclubs where bands could play and get experience, lots of record stores, and great music coming out all the time. Now it's virtually impossible to find a record store. Almost all of the rock nightclubs have gone out of business so there are few places for a new band of young people to get experience and make some money. Where we once had big music scenes in every major city in The USA, now there are very small and very few music scenes because young people are more interested in the internet. Personally I think the internet has ruined our culture. It is not a natural environment for socializing; it's a very artificial environment and we're probably going to continue to see a lot of continuing damage to our culture as the internet continues to exist.

i couldn't have said it better my friend blackjack and i totally agree with you. The internet has really ruined our lives in a way and improved in in other ways like MAB said it once in an interview. But if you look at it in another perspective it's because of the internet and other social media networks that i am able to learn and understand music and theory as well as techniques and sharing it with world wide. I also got to know MAB because of it and i am so glad i did. The only bad side of it is music piracy and that disgusts me to the core of my bones because it has no respect to the arts and intellectual matter of the musician , it's really a sad subject here . And what is worse is that i live in a country where all that is possible here and i wish i can get out and go to USA or at least to somewhere safer where people understands me , my music and my philosophy.

Thanks, Razorshred! Now when you move here you have a huge choice of where to live because it is such a huge country. Some states are much more expensive to live in and to rent an apartment or buy a house than other states. So depending on how much money you will bring with you, take your time choosing a place you can afford as well as a place you think you will like. If you like hot weather and want a place that has apartments and houses that are not expensive, I suggest you move to Tampa, Florida or St. Petersburg, Florida. I lived in Tampa for 4 years. That is where the bands Savatage, Crimson Glory, Roxx Gang, and Iced Earth are from! It is also where death metal such as Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, and many others began. All these bands recorded at the legendary Florida music studio Morrisound Studios. Also there is no cold weather in Florida and there are lots of pretty girls! Also there are lots of beaches there if you like the beach and the ocean. If you move to the northeastern USA, such as Washington DC, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, New York, or Boston you will pay 3 or 4 times as much money for an apartment or house or even to rent a room in a house! There you will have a change of weather - hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There are some beaches but not as many and any place to live near the beach in the northeast is incredibly expensive! If you like the mountains and want a place where it is warm in the summer but not too hot and cold in the winter, you could move to Denver, Colorado. I have read that there are still some decent music scenes for heavy metal and hard rock in the Denver Colorado area. They said that even 80s style bands exist there but I can't confirm how accurate that is because somebody I don;t know told me about it on the internet. I met him in a club for people who like 80s heavy metal and hard rock. The cost of living in Denver is probably slightly more than Tampa or St. Petersburg Florida but still much cheaper than Washington DC, Philadelphia, or New York or Boston. North Carolina and South Carolina are both very affordable but the music scenes will probably be smaller. But they have nice weather and nice people. They also have the ocean and lots of beaches. So, here is where I would look into starting with what I think would be best for the price and the music scene both being considered: 1. Tampa or Saint Petersburg, Florida. Another one is Orlando, Florida That's where Disney World is and Full Sail University which specializes in teaching now to work in a recording studio or in the movie business. 2. Denver, Colorado 3. Charlotte, North Carolina 4. Baltimore, Maryland 5. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 6. Los Angeles, Caifornia 7. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 8.. Washington DC area including Maryland and northern Virginia 9. New York City 10. Boston, Massacusetts 11. San Francisco, California - beautiful city, great weather, and good music but THE most expensive city in The USA

WOW!! blackjack , this has helped me immensely ! whether where should i consider living if ever i moved to USA or with the history of there the bands are from. You are very kind for putting this effort and helping me ! In my own case , i don't think i will mind living anywhere really in the states because everywhere is alright to me regarding here . Where i live now is a living hell , people are so stupid , fighting over religion and over politics , it just makes me disgusted !! i want to live in a place where i can share my music with open minded people with a free will ! and i want to hear other people's music as well ! 26 years in this country and i have not progressed with any of my own work and art , it has demotivated me to the very core. That's why i keep watching MAB and all of the other talented guitarists , because they bring joy and meaning to my living every single day , and i owe them endlessly for what they have given me over the years even if they don't know it. But people like you and MAB and all the supporters here on this forum are the best push and excitement a man can add to his life in order to succeed , so again i thank you and salute each member here ! Cheers

You are welcome Razorshred! One thing that would also affect this list is the kind of work you would expect to be trying to obtain here. Your choice of where to live matters a lot depending upon if, for example your type of work you are experienced in is working for a restaurant as a waiter or maybe a chef, working in a business office with computers, working as a salesman, working as a carpenter in construction, etc. Myrtle Beach's main economy is tourism so it is full of hotels ad restaurants. It is famous for its beaches and its golf courses so a lot of people vacation there. In a city like Baltimore or Denver there is a combination of white collar jobs in business as well as blue collar jobs in construction or other manual labor.
Los Angeles is of course full of movie producing companies and what is left of the record companies as well as lots of hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. But there is a LOT of competition there because most people wanting a career in movies or music move there. So jobs are hard to get. That's why I suggest Tampa or St Petersburg, Florida or Orlando, Florida. They also have some movie producing companies, there are some music recording studios, and since it is Florida the main business is tourism so again ;its of hotels and restaurants and nightclubs. The music scene there used to be second only to Los Angeles! But I haven't been there in a long time so I can't say for sure how good the music scene is It will probably still be a better place for music than most cities.
So let me know if you have a college degree or if you are skilled in a particular sort of manual labor or if you are looking to work in a business office maybe in sales or accounting. Charlotte, North Carolina is famous for its banking industry. It is also less expensive to live there than in the northeast and it is a fast growing city so there might be a decent music scene but I don't know for sure.
