I'm thinking of buying a Dean Michael Schenker Flying V guitar, and I really want to be able to do the thing where you turn the rhythm volume all the way down and use the toggle switch as a killswitch. The guitar I want to buy has a volume for lead, and another volume for rhythm, and one tone knob. Will I be able to do this trick on the guitar or do I need a guitar with all four knobs?

What do you think will happen if you have two pickups with one volume knob each and you turn down the volume completely on one of them and switch back and forth? Yes it will work. You just turn down the volume for one of the pickups.

I know how it works and everything, I just wanted to be sure because when I talk to my guitar teacher about that trick, he always talks about four-knobs. But thank you! Just the answer I needed. Cheers

There's no dumb questions as long as they are only asked once Most comercially available guitars that has two volume knobs has the Les Paul electronics configuration so I think that might be the reason he talks about 4-knobs. I have never seen any stock mass produced guitars with two volume knobs only. I always have to change out the tone knob on guitars with vol-tone configuration because I prefer two volume knobs as well
