Michael, When you are picking fast i am pretty sure you have a lot of tension on your hands but the nore tension we put on the hands the more dificult to play but mentally do you say i have to relax or cause of the time playing it is something that the tension does not affect your speed ?

I play very aggressively. I honestly don't feel tension in my hands or arms -ever- when I play. One of the reasons is that I have good posture when performing and good hand positioning that enables me to freely move across the fretboard. As far as picking, I use a very comfortable, natural wrist motion. It looks different than most players because I "cup" my hand over the strings.

I always used to play sitting down, and couldn't do anything standing... so I've started practicing standing too and I'm glad I did, I can nearly play as well standing as sitting now. (Note, that's still really badly ;D) I noticed today when I'm sitting I tend to slouch, and hunch up around the guitar in a posture which I'm sure cannot be good for me. I'll have to watch that

I'll have to watch that You need more self-confidence, no matter what stage you are at in guitar be proud you have made it that far and tell yourself there is always further to go. You will be surprised how much easy it is play if you are confident with yourself.

Thanks for the morale boost mate! I know I tend to slag myself off quite a bit. Makes me practice harder ;D
Nah, seriously I know I need to be confident, and I am really... with myself. Just not to other people. I have had 2 people in the last week telling me I'm good, (evidently my amp was too loud ;D) and one of them used to be a session guitarist. That was cool. But I know I am still pretty bad. I mean, I've only been playing anything other than 4 chord songs for a few weeks and I've never had a lesson. But I know I'm getting faster and that's good enough for now ;D
