Hey, he uses black dunlop jazz IIIs, I believe I read that somewhere anyway and went out and bought a bunch, and I think it's a really really great pick.

Wich does not carry his signature, but some graphics of the double. And as far as I know, he only uses them on the double and throws them to the audience

"Signature" doesn't nesseceraly mean there actully "signed" it means they are his own. Like when artists get a "Signature Model" there not actully hand signed bu the guitarist.

I`ve used Jim Dunlop Jazz III`s for about the last 5 years, sometimes i ware out as many as 8 or more in a day, depending on how hard i practice that day! Last year i bought 1400 Jazz III`s to last me the year, the year before that i think i got about 1200, about 1000 the year before that, in about 2 months time i`ll need to get my next year`s supply (as i`m running out, i`m down to about my last 200 or so ), i`m aiming to get about 1500 this time! I always use the red ones, a few years ago, i tried a little batch of black Jazz III`s (about 50 or so) but i found that they wore down in a different way, in fact they seemed to be wareing down far too quickly, within about 15-20 minutes of picking practice (i pick quite hard though!). Normally if i`m practicing really hard, and i am focused, a red Jazz III will last maybe up to an hour, then it will be so worn that it doesn`t even feel like a Jazz III any more, and won`t have anything like the point that i use them for, and because i`m trying to program that exact level of friction against the strings (that the point creates) into my brain, and get used to it, once the tip is worn into a different shape, to carry on would be programming a different level of friction into my brain. I only want to `get used` to the `point`, as that is how a new pick would feel if i was recording, or playing live! I buy my Jazz III`s bulk from a guitar shop in Norwich (England), if you buy them individually they average around 50 pence each, a year or so ago i went to one guitar shop where they were charging £1 for each Jazz III ( just to think that would cost me £1500 for my next 1 year`s supply! ), but because i buy in bulk numbers i get them a lot cheaper, normally i get it down to about 30 - 32 pence each (that`s what it works out as!), i think it is going to cost me about £450 for 1500 jazz III`s this time (that`s if they keep their promise of 30 pence per pick for buying bulk!). I took this photo of my main pick tub a couple of months ago, i think i had about 550 picks left at that time! When that tub is full it fits about 1000 Jazz III`s in it, then i fill a smaller tub that i keep upstairs for when i practice up there! Later dudes (and dudesses!). Willie Jordan

Hey, thanks for the welcome! It can be a stressful time for me when i start getting low on picks, in the past 6 years since i started my all day long/7 day a week picking practice, i have seen me get down to about my last 10-14 or so picks just as the new batch arrives in at the shop, that is far too close for comfort, i can ware out that many in just 2 days!! If i ever ran out of picks, or strings (that`s another story) i would litterally be lost without being able to practice and better myself every day! It`s the only thing i know how to do, practice on guitar! Willie Jordan p.s. I`ll take a photo of my new batch of 1500 Jazz III`s when i get them in a couple of months! I can`t wait to go for a swim in them! ;D It feels so great to just dip your hands right in them, my daughter and girlfriend always love to do that too when the new ones arrive!

Wanna tell us the strings story Well, over the years i`ve gone through my fair share of strings, as well as picks, but i don`t seem to snap as many now as i did a few years ago, i still pick harder than most people probably do, put maybe 3 or 4 years ago you wouldn`t believe how many strings i was going through, even i can`t believe it now!!! I used to pick a LOT harder back then, and for a period of maybe 6 or so months, after i had COMPLETELY worn out a Jem that i had just bought brand new 2 years earlier, and couldn`t play it any more, i didn`t have a guitar to practice on, nor the money to buy one, so a friend loaned me a Squire Strat, i don`t really like Strats, but i had nothing else! Strats dont have a locking trem or locking nuts on the neck, you see, what i normally do to save money on strings is that i wrap as much of a string around the locking nut as possible, so that when i snap a string, instead of replacing the string, i just loosen some off from the machine head and lock it back in place on the trem, and there you go! But because this Strat didn`t have the locking facilities, every time i snapped a string, i had to actually replace it with a new one! At that time i was snaping AT LEAST 20 + strings a day, and i mean at least! I would say i averaged about 25 - 30 string snaps a day, some days i would snap about 35, but i remember (clearly ) one day i actually snapped 39 strings in one day, and had to replace every one I never have much money, and any money that my girlfriend and i did/could get, most of it was going on keeping me in practice! It is sad to think about it now, any money we had being wasted on my practice, but when i think of how many hours every day i wasted actually putting new strings on, it just makes me wish i had started picking a bit lighter a bit sooner! But in the end what helped was when i realised it would be much cheaper to actually borrow the money to buy a guitar with a locking trem, so we did that, and i bought a Jackson with locking trem and nut, and that saved lots of money on strings straight away, as you could get anything between 6-8 or so snaps out of every string! Trust me, NONE of willjay's stories are false. I live in the same town as he does and consider him a good friend, and I have seen first hand how hard he practices every day. Also I have witnessed the demise of many a Jazz 3 and seen the destruction of plenty of strings while I have been at his house, all in the name of practice. And he's a bit good at playing the guitar, before you ask!!!

There's no need to be like that... if you don't believe him that's your choice but please be nice - this is the first forum I've seen in a long time that isn't covered in flame wars!
