I just got 50 dollars and plan on working another day, so I'd be able to afford it.. but I don't know if I would feel right putting it on a strat.

Do they sound much better than a sock-dampener?also, can you hit open notes with it?

no you cant hit open string but i do like it better than sock ones you can move out of the way fast when you are playing

I've had it for 3 years now and I love it! It was so worth the 80 bucks or so that was spent.
If your careful with the way you set it up, some strings will ring through but the string noise and feedback won't. Very useful!
