I wanted to try out playing alongside Michael on the Speed Lives DVD so I had to tune the guitar down a half step. This has happened to me before but I haven't got a clue how to tune the guitar down without having the Floyd Rose bending in a wierd position. i tried opening the guitar from the back and removing and/or adding a coil spring (if that is what it's called, I have no idea what it's called :S) but that didn't work either. So, how can I tune the guitar down to Eb with no problems with the Floyd Rose?

You just have to tune the guitar down a little bit, then loosen the 2 screws holding the springs to the body so there is less tension on them, and so that the bridge goes level again. Keep doing this untill the guitar is tuned to Eb and the bridge is still level. The tension on the springs must equal the tension on the strings to keep the bridge level, so just alter each one gradually, untill the guitar is tuned down and the bridge is level.

Yeah, you don't have to alter the springs at the back just to tune down to Eb.

Yeah, but that changes the position the bridge is in, and he is saying he doesnt want it like that. Although it wouldnt make much difference, would it?
