More Info - Pricing on average ... Boss gt-8 $445 Pod xt live $400 Ratings ... Harmony central ratingsBoss gt-8 - 8.6 Pod xt live - 8.5 Musicians friend ratingsBoss gt-8 - 9.7 Pod xt live - 8.6 Sounds I'm after ... I need some nice high gain tones for rhythm and lead work (ala "train of thought" or "6 degrees"), and pristine, jazzy tones for clean playing

Aah seems like I am not alone after all on the whole search thing. I don't personally know but it sounds like th POD live falls short on distortion. I have always liked Boss pedals and I really think that might be the way I go so I ain't killing myself coming up with a different pedal for everything and can save some cash. But I have never Had a muliti effects pedal so I am a bit undecivie about it but if I do it will be the Boss gt-8 SORRY IF THIS DOESN"T HELP, but I am in the same boat for the most part.

I really like digitech GNX3- or the upgrade GNX4. The effects are great, and the built in recorder is AWESOME. Only complaint is that wah/volume are on same pedal.

I have the Boss GT-6, and maybe maybe its because I dont like all those effects in on eboxm but I simply don't like the thing.
I would go for Line 6 if you have to get a multieffects pedal. Why? To my knowledge, Line 6 releases patches for the system instead of making you buy an entirely new box. i.e. Say in a year or so Boss will make the GT-10 or whatever that cost $400 with like 3 new effects and some other junk you wont need while Line 6 will probably make new effects anbd amp models and allow you to download them all in a package for like $50. plus Line 6 has an awesome community and you can get and talk about tons of patches.

Buy the Metal X Studio Package, go with Line 6 Podxt Live, a floorboards with channel selectors, plus wah-wah & uni-vibe, plus, you can download, create, and trade your own custom tones with other people on CustomTone.com
