I used to own a shed load of rack gear but it all got nicked and anyway I am thinking about keeping it simple and going for just a straight forward amp and then adding a couple of pedals in front of it. I don't suppose anyone here has any experience with cornford amps? Theyre pretty expensive but theyre supposed to be the best things out there at the moment. Check out some of the sounds at web site: www.cornfordamps.com/

yea, Im very dubious of most pro guitar players and their amps. I mean George Lynch promotes everything under the sun as long as it has his name on it, yet he never uses it live lol. Honestly tho a lot of these solo guitar players need to compromise and play what sounds good and they get paid to promote kimo savvy? Like Cornford a very small company of hand wired amps whereas Peavy is huge.

I would say that they sound really good, not the best but still worthy of being in my top 5 amps without a doubt.

Thanks for the replies, I don't suppose you could reccomend "best" amps as I'm looking to buy one real soon. My major problem with guitar tone is getting some nice distorsion, dialling in a clean tone is no problem but to get a distorsion which doesnt sound like fuzz or buzz is a major pain in the ass. My ideal distorsion is something which doesn't sound compressed like the boogie or ADA, I want to get a real nice bite! I guess something like a marshall on steroids
