I started a thread very similar to this except I was going to buy the Jem7V because i heard from my friend that he was very a dissapointed with the 555, and just recently it broke while he was on stage and he was actually glad it broke cause he was getting fed up of it.

Oh sorry dude i never ment to put you off the guitar I was just saying what my friend thought but I was onced told by Paul Gilbert when i met him and asked him about guitars is "You can pick up a guitar and play it and think it sounds horrible, however someone else can play the exact same guitar and think its brilliant. Its all about your own ears". So if u can try to get a play of it, cause you may very well love the thing. And also its a nice guitar As for the RGT42FMDR I have never played that model or even seen it lol but i am sure someone else will have played it. ;D

I used to have a Jem 555, in fact that was the first guitar that i actually really started practicing on all day every day! The thing that i really didn`t like about it was trem they used to have on them! They used to fit them with an Ibanez Lo-trs II trem, or something like that, and to me it was like a toy trem, really awful, always went out of tune, however, as far as i remember, they have since stopped using them and replaced that trem (on the Jem 555) with an Ibanez EdgPro II, which is IMO a really good trem, so who` know`s, it may be a great guitar to have now! I have a Maverick F1 now that has a really nice trem on it, i always wanted a trem that doesn`t swing about or make clanking noises when you use it, i also always wanted a trem that you could `flutter` (purring noise like Vai does!). His two main guitars are EVO and FLO. EVO is the Prototype for the Jem7v. FLO is (if I remember right) a Floral Jembody (painted white), a JEM555 Neck, Evolution BrigdePU, Jem Single, and a Fernandez Surstainer in Neckposition ;D

Lol i hate calling them outputs cause it does not sound rite to me. The reason for this is because when i say jack output i know the single is going out but im putting the jack in, so its a jack lead input lol Output always seemed wierd to me and i shall never call it that ;D

I personally would go with the RG2550 cause it has a Edge Pro bridge, round about same price as a Jem555 but i would say the RG would be best if u use trem alot. Thats just my opinion though

Best suggestion to anyone who doesn't have the loot for a Jem is buy a Ibanez Prestige. This series will get you to almost the spec's on a Jem . (ie Edge Pro Trem, Prestige Neck contour almost exactly like the Jem) plus even with the addition of EVO pups you will still save $1000.00 or 700 English pounds ;D
