I was just wondering what you guys thought about the Fernandes line of guitars that have the sustainers in them. I have the Montery Elite with the sustainer and it is the most uniqe thing i have found on the market.
For those of you who don't know what the sustainer is: picture a pickup at the neck that, when switched on, will send out a magnetic field and constantly vibrate the string you have held down. The effect works indefinitely, or until the batteries wear out which seems to be once every 3 months with regular everyday playing time. It has two settings, regular and harmonic with both "sustain" and "Attack" knobs for the sustainer pickup.
It really is amazing to play. I have seen and played with the EBOW and it doesn't even compare to the versatility of the Sustainer from Fernandes, mainly because there is no "guess work" involved and you can have both hands on the guitar. Just picture infinite sustain whenever you want it without having some bulky plastic thing in your hand. Just your pick, haha.
Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback ;D ;D ;D Never tried one, I did try a kramer sustaniac when they first came out...that was fun. I'd like to try one "for real", be it a Fernandes, Jackson or Kramer

I would love to try a fernandes sustainer, I checked out their demos on ther site a while ago and they sound amazing. I love what Vai does with them too. That line's a wee bit too expensive for me at the moment; I'd love to try one though...

I was at some show a couple of weeks ago and this guy had one, I must admit... it sounded pretty cool.
