I got a fender strat and its a great guitar. Also the very few jacksons i played were great. Why do people hate fender? What did fender ever do?

I don't hate them, but I don't like them either. Fender makes high quality guitars, but I think their guitars are just very boring and a little bit cliché. It just looks like a standard electric guitar. I prefer an evil looking Dean Razorback or an Ibanez prestige/JEM/UV or a cool Jackson RR or something. These guitars just appeal to me and are high quality as well. Sorry, my opinion..

You dont like the shapes, so your the first person i have seen with a reason ;D. I think RR's are ugly. I would take a KV over an RR anyday.

Hmm, I don't think I hate the strat-shape or the tele-shape, it's just not my style. My guitar teacher has 18 Fenders (he's really a bluesman ;D) and I love to play on them because they play real smooth and sound great but like I said, they just don't look cool

I really don't like the shape of teles but there's nothing wrong with strats imo. My first guitar was a squier affinity strat, granted it's not a fender but I've got nothing against them, quite like the shape. Though it is a bit, well, conventional I guess. I do prefer more angular shapes, like the Dean Baby Z... looking to get me one of those soon

Tele's are ugly. I love strat shapes though. Anyone who doesnt play guitar associates a guitar with a strat shape. People wont buy jacksons because they are made by fender now, why is that?

That's weird, I can't even think of any reason why I shouldn't buy a Jackson because it's made by Fender. Fender is really an experienced and respected organisation, I think they can only do good for Jackson.

Exactly. Look at this post in the satch sig geetar thread Go for the Ibanez ! Better Trem, Better Neck, Better Price, Not made by Fender What does it not being made by fender have to do with anything

As far as I know Jacksons are made like they have always been and by the same people.
For something strats are right, sometimes a tele is the way to go and for some something else. Imagine Yngwie with a Ibanez or Bruce Springteen with a Dean ML ;D

I will admit lately the Japanese Fenders are better than the american fenders. Depressing for sure. Here is an article that explains what I said news.dmusic.com/article/15901

Exactly. Look at this post in the satch sig geetar thread What does it not being made by fender have to do with anything Relax ! I own a Fender ... It's nothing personal but I feel Older Jackson are a hell of alot better than new one . And it is my feeling that as a corporate machine like fender is They can't be botherd with making high quality guitars like they use to. And again Fender has been making the same 2 models for 50 years , I think they need to step it up and make there models more unquie.

Those models are still very popular, I don't see any reason for Fender to change 'em.

I will have to agree with everybody that says they are just plain boring They play nicely, but I feel they need to spicen them up a little bit. I don't really mind that they are making Jacksons because they aren't using the exact same designs, I'm getting a new Soloist at the end of the school year so ha! ;D Right now I'm playing with a Jackson Randy Rhoads.

The thing about Fenders is that the production line is so incredibly inconsistent. You can play two apparantly identical guitars (in terms of model and year) and one can play great while the other one doesn't feel half as good. One thing I would say is never buy a fender through mail order (or the internet for that matter). Always try them first, then you can ensure you are getting one of the better produced ones rather than a not so good production.
I have a Deluxe American 2004 model and I have to say it's an absolute dream to play and I've had absolutely no problems with it beyond what you'd get with any brand new guitar. Also, I have to completely disagree about them looking boring, I think they just look modestly beautiful. To me it's the 'try hard' guitars like the ESP Devil Girl that are the ugliest.

I like the Fender model's to be honest. My first and only guitar i have at the moment is a squier strat, but everytime someone picks up and plays it,they comment on how the tone is and the quality of the guitar itself. I like my fender, but its not my favorite guitar.

I like Fender. I've had the same Strat for 7 years now. I would like to get a Fat Strat with a Floyd and a American Deluxe FMT. They play wonderfully.

You can pick up a Strat plus for £600. They are absolutely fantastic guitars and quite rare. Won numerous awards, introduced noiseless pickups. Cost a lot more to get a guitar of a similar quality. Only thing with Fender is that recently, instead of introducing new technology, it's almost like they're putting different parts from different models together and seeing what they come up with.

Well, for me, Fender are really good sounding guitars... but the thing that I hate, is the people all around who just know fender and gibson... they don't even know anything else... Fender are for me just commercial stuff.

Of course Fenders are 'commercial stuff', they are a huge guitar manufacturer after all. Howeverm, I do agree with your comments on come people knowing only Fender and Gibson it generally tends to be new guitarists in modern new rock and punk bands who never seem to bother learning about other companies

I wouldn't say i hate them, I personally I'd rather have a good jackson or dean. Its the simple fact that fender doesn't keep up with the newer thechnologies of the guitar industries. Its only been recently that you can get one with a floyd, and even then I don't think they put a locking nut on it. Another thing, their USA strats and teles aren't really made in the US, they're made in mexico or korea and assembled in the US. Don't get me wrong I've got a strat (first guitar). And they do play nice. A nice neck-thru soloist in trans blue or red with a floyd, and emg 81 85 set just seems more my style .
