Yep! You were definitely the one who referred me to mike. The Cali Elite is in fact for sale. I need to make some dough for a new bass rig -- a short scale Hamer 12 string. Obviously, I have enough guitars!

As promised! FT Bridge w/ Strings Through Body Active/Passive Electronics w/ Coil Splitters, Phase Switch Ebony Fingerboard Abalone Dot Inlays Stainless Jumbo Frets .055" H .110" W 20" fretboard radius (custom) Clear Gloss Finish Jet Black Mahogany Neck & Body Tung Oil Finish Back Of Neck (Natural Wood) Black Hardware Headstock To Match Plain Wood Body Color C26 Bridge Pickup C26 Neck Pickup Black Coils w/ Black Bezels Abalone Logo It's black, and utalitarian - it also plays astonishingly well with the 20" radius and stainless steel jumbo frets. I'd actually forgotten how much output the combination of the active EQ and Carvin pups yields! I can do some more pictures if you like - I just don't want to post too many in a gratuitous fashion

VERY nice shadydave! Sexy. I bet it sounds great. How is the low B string's clarity? I've just never played a mahogany 7 string and wondered if the inherent warmth would mud it up. Are you gonna stick with the Carvin pups or ?

Are you gonna stick with the Carvin pups or ? It is in truth a little muddy at the bottom end but I'm probably going to drop a D-activator in there to take care of that. It's a small issue for me as the rest of the guitar sounds awesome - the treble and mids are just beautifully smooth and bright. It's not muddy to the point of horror, but you do have to be careful about EQ and the active EQ section + boost is a little noisy...again, not a real concern if you have a noise gate. The 20" radius is AMAZING if you've never played one

Congrats on one awesome guitar! ;D

Thanks man The one problem with Carvin pup's is that they're slightly undersized - so you need a luthier to route out the pickup cavity to fit in aftermarket (full-sized) pickups. Oh well, no real problem ^^

Except for the scratchplate and different pickups, mine's identical to this one:

Nope, I'm not a fan of hot pickups, and these are also kinda muddy, so I intend to replace them with some quality Dimarzio ones, like so many before me. The rest of the guitar appears to be the bee's knees, especially the neck. It's skinny, but it feels good and the strings are relatively low without any buzz.

Aye, I don't mind hot so much but the mud and lack of definition saw mine changed out for a Megadrive and PAF Pro - back when TMac used a Megadrive in his BC Rich ;D

Yeah, some people swear by those V pups though. Eh to each his own. I personally don't like em either. And yeah that wizard neck is amazing! Makes my wizard II feel like a baseball bat.
Nice combo shadydave! I've heard awesome thing about the megadrive. Maybe DiMarzio will bring it back one day.
