I have both Speed Kills dvds except 3 which I'll get as soon as I get the money. Speed Kills helped me quite a bit and I'm using Speed Lives to learn his song which is like practically impossible where I'm at, especially the sweep picking parts. Anyway thanks for the comment! I'll post another video soon with more stuff added to it. Also can someone please tell me what is my picking speed? I have no clue how fast my picking speed is.

Ok guys here is my latest video of me shredding...sorta. Also I'm not really use to shredding in front of the camera so it will s*** or maybe I just s***. Hopefully you'll enjoy it and please give me tips, I'm gonna need them since I only been playing for 5 months. Here is the link to the video and sorry for the crappy quality, my camera blows. vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=13729070

it would sound a lot better, i think, if you played with a backing track of some sort. its good for five months. who are your influences?

Well my influences are MAB (duh) , Buckethead, Metallica, and believe it or not Guitar Hero. I actually got my picking speed from Guitar Hero.

do you have 2 videos on there? either i was watching the same 1 or it was very similar...just try and have more variation, throw in some different techniques (tapping, sweeping etc), improve the tone and keep practising. when i say try and have more variation what i mean is try and move position more. learning the modal scales will help you do this. keep it up

Yes I do have 2 videos on there. The reason why both of them are similar is because like you said, I need more variation. Also I s*** at sweep picking. I'm learing how to do it but still s*** at it. As for the tone, well I have a blues amp. Even with the GNX4 processor I have the tone still blows, but the amp is a tube amp and tube amps always rock. Should I just get a marshell or keep the blues amp?

It's not bad to *** at sweeping when you play no so long. I play 3 years and I started to sweep last year. I started all shred techniques last year, the first 2 year of playing guitar I learned only rhythm playing and so on. Now I practise all shred techniques for 1 year, but hours every day. You can watch my video of speed kills in the other thread here.

definately look at the alternate picking section of speed kills. in the final part where Mike combines lots of the motifs there is 1 lick that goes from dorian in to major and has a hint of locrian mode (part 5 exercise 5)this lick opened my eyes to the posssibility of linking the modal scales up. your doing the write thing though- posting videos and asking for advice. i am 14 and have played for 2 1/2 years. i have started to get noticeably faster these last 4 months since i got a metronome. hint- get 1 if you havent already lol
