www.myspace.com/dbtarocksgo check it out, i put up the first little bit of a song we have, just so people get an idea. it's nothing final, i have to redo the first piano part because of the note that lags. but what i'm asking is after hearing what you did, would you want to hear the rest? thanks a bunch. chris

Power metal!!!!! I really liked it man, jsut a few pointers from a power metal fan!! (i know its probably not meant to be power metal but it certainly sounds that way).
Have the voice telling the story louder, and put a pitchshifter on it down an octave (or a fifth, see which sound you prefer) it will IMMEDIATLY sound more epic and haunting. The guitar tone needs to be heavy but smooth, the distortion i htink needs to be rolled off or at least smoothed out a bit.
After its finished, come in with a fast crushing power metal riff!!
Id definitly like to hear how it develops.

well i always mic on axis, and have the mic pointed right at the centre of the speaker cone almost touching the cloth. I usually record with the amo fairly quiet.
Kev will come along and prove everything i just siad to be wrong lol.

According to a recent John Petrucci Interview, he says he likes to find his 'sweet spot' on the amp. He says it is "halfway between the center of the speaker and the edge of the amp".

i just listened to your track and i dig it. it keep building like it was gonna blow up, then it stoped. if you listen to the vox track, hear all the breath noise? when he pops his p's or b's . a cheap fix is a windscreen made from a wire hanar and some ladies pantyhose. and have him distance himself from the mic a tad more. keep working at it so you can show us more.

well the band hasn't been together for a while due to a problem with my drums. the finish on the bass warped and it's in the factory right now. the anticipation is killing me.
but thanks guys. we have a bunch of songs in the works but thats the only one recorded.
