After how poor Avatar was, I hope they don't make a 2nd.

I liked Avatar. Everybody loves being a critic that picks apart movies but I enjoyed it for what it was, a fantasy-adventure with great visuals. Sure it was alot like Ferngully, or Dances With Wolves as far as plot goes, but done in a different and unique way which I enjoyed. Oh and btw the 2 sequels are already official for 2014 and 2015, not sure why it has to be that long, Cameron may have other obligations I guess.

I just think in years to come when the FX are old-hat (similar to The Matrix was in the mid 2000's) people will realize it is a pretty poor film- which is a shame since the film was 10 years in the making. The Matrix is still a good film even if the FX look shabby by today's standards cos you can't beat an original storyline.

I agree, I do love originality in movies, there isn't a whole lot of it going around these days. Maybe the movie wasn't oscar quality or anything, but I still think it was worth watching at least once.

If it's anything like the first movie the majority of it will be special effects, yet they should be mostly using models and locations that were made for the first movie (I read an interview where he said that it'd be a waste not to do the sequels because of all the time that was put into creating the models, etc.) Also they are making both of the movies at the same time. I guess considering those things it should come out quicker than that.

Still, it's upped the quality of FX required in a big budget film. I would like to see a few of the darker computer (video) games be made into films with the same level of FX whilst retaining as much of the story as possible.

i liked the avatar, i dont think i could watch it again though, its just too long and parts tend to drag, but the visuals were off the charts, watching it on bluray was nice!
