Besides MAB, who do you think is the fastest shredder?
In my opinion, I would say Paul Gilbert. If you heard the Racer X songs Frenzy, or Viking Kong, then you'd know what i'm talking about.

You really need to check out Willjay's NPS (Notes Per Second) project here on the forum if you haven't already. Here it is: mabforum.proboards.com/thread/2676/list-fastest-alternate-speedsIt should give you a good idea of the fastest guitar players. However Wiljay only checked (mainly) alternate picking. Then again, alternate picking is the hardest technique to play fast and clean with. It's not like Lane's legato was slower. For sweep picking Shane Gibson and Frank Gambale is very fast. I'm not sure if Wiljay ever clocked any of MAB's sweep picking. My favourites are Shawn Lane, Todd Duane, MAB and Paul Gilbert for alternate picking, I think these guys really master both speed and accuracy! Also, Paco De Lucia was really impressive using only his fingers to "pick" extremely fast.

For me it was MAB contest winner and also artist Tramaine. I see that on youTube he does No Boundaries at 214bpm which is super fast and picks every note well. I think very much influenced by MAB because his alternate pick techniques are sounding the same as MAB mostly. But on his music he is even faster on tracks such as 'Tramainedous'. Other people like shawn lane to me are quick but do not have the accuracy that MAB and Tramaine get with picking

There's literally thousands of guitarists out there who can play what he does in that song. Nowhere near the level of MAB or Lane. With that said the guy is definitely a good guitarist. The thing with Lane was that he was much faster than everybody else, he could play complex stuff extremely fast. Faster than anyone else. If he'd play slower (at the same speed as the people behind him) he would of course been even cleaner than he already was.
