Ok I been seeing alot of posts about speed but I noticed somethings in my hours of playing. If you are at 200 tempo and go and increase it to about 250 there's no difference!Maybe a 2 second difference!!!Now I could be wrong but its what I saw with many computer nomes. Also I can go to speeds of 300 tempo and up with this method of playing with 2 notes way to many times making it useless, except in others I can carry 200 or only 180.So please stop arguing about speed because your overating it.And so many people can play as good as some of the top guitarists now a days that it doesn't matter so drop it!

I think speed is something you grow out of eventually. Lot's of guitarists on the internet think, as I di at one point, that speed is the only thing that matters in guitar playnig but it's not. Lots of guys can play fast, but most of those can't hold a tune. Then again, some can

Speed and Accuracy are great tools to have, people shouldn't be so down on it all the time. That doesn't mean that every song should be 64ths @ 600, but there's nothing wrong with throwing in some fast runs etc ... speed is an emotion in itself, it builds tension, makes great climaxes in solo's and like any other technique is good to have in your arsenal.

I agree. personally, a lot of the guys I listen to on on full speed a lot of the time... It all depends what i'm in the mood to listen to. Marcel Coenen is an example of brilliant technique that is spread out well. If I'm in the mood for all out speed arsinals, on goes angelo, rusty, fra. I dunno.... Some times I'm in the mood for strawberry iced cream, and other time chocolate. I think we'll all agree that speed is useless if it is done completely sloppily or unevenly. As far "spreading it out," I think it's all a matter of taste, as long as the technique is there.

Speed was a big thing for me for a while, now i look for flawless players, ones that are clean and dont just shred for the sake of it, anyone can read a book, understanding a book and using it to apply to your own life is the challenge.
Love ya's xx

I'm getting tired of people saying, "Thtop playing tho fatht!! I don't like it tho neither can you guyth!!" Speed is not the only aspect of guitar playing, but if done well it can add an impressive aspect. If you don't like speed, that's fine, but don't go telling others to stop, just go back to your bluegrass and let the shredders shred! ;D

Points at Walter Giardino - The MAN when it comes to picking when to shred and when not to. I think the most important thing to have in music is contrast, speed and slow passage creates contrast, messing with dynamics creates contrast, blah blah 64ths @ 600= 120 notes per second- Not that you were serious but....

Dam it this topic is probally dead now but umm yea I didn't get a e-mail saying anyone responded. But anways 300 at 16th's is possible in a 2 hand motion I figured but it sounds like a bleb bleb bleb sound and the only reason you can bassicaly find it's tempo is by matching it with a MIDI timing.

ROFL!LMFAO!Hahaha that was amazing.I know how everyone feels speed is so overated. But it helps me alot.I just think the amount of people who are know as the best should be slimed down.I mean I hear people all the time go WHOA I HEARD VAN HALENS ERUPTION!It's like wow he ***s and it is rumored he didn't do those taps he just re-recorded and add in other parts.Either way the song was a brezze I could do that with both hands behind my back and with my teeth. And then people go OMG I HEARD HENDRIX MAN(In a 70's voice)Hendrix rarely showed speed at woodstock he had alot of speed but I learned that fast because it was all in pentatonics. But some of his chord parts can be a pain when your first learning them. That is if you memorize each one different because Hendrix had a method of hitting only some notes of a chord in a pattern but it changed everychord.Like I hear everyone do Purple Haze but they hit the WHOLE chord which is dead wrong.Thats like putting a shotgun to the head of a road runner and saying you hit it far away.Memorizing all the patterns to that song took me a week.Speed sigh.

Sure if my mic ever works.I'll tell you how it's do able
E12-15< except use pinky on left hand and then B G D A E As soon as you pull off use right hand pointer then pinky and then middle finger of right hand.It sounds like the tapping in Time Travler it sounds chessy and not as fast as it is but check it out!Don't think that I'm all concided about my guitar playing because I only mentioned it as something cool not to say I'm good or anything.
