whatever happened to the clinic challenge? I think it was the one that whoever could play faster got a free dean or something? Did they stop doing that?

Some of the challenges were fun, as they were meant to be. The challenge was designed to be a positive experience for anyone who wanted to try.
However, some people wanted to challenge, just to win the guitar, even if they didn't have the chops. They'd bring their friends to cheer them on and argue with the final decision.
It was supposed to give guitarists an opportunity to play for Michael, learn from him and see for themselves where they stood in their own efforts. Instead, it kinda became all about the free guitar.
When it was proven that they weren't faster than Michael, feelings were sometimes hurt and that was never the intention of the challenge, so it was discontinued.

Aww I would of liked to have had a go at the clinic challage its a good idea but the fact that people where just doing it for the guitar and arguing is not what its about

Ok Again, I had the oportunity to play after Michael when he came to florida, by the way i did not know anything about the challenging stuffs, i took my guitar with me so Michael can sign it, while been there the guy who represented Dean that took Michael to the clinics said it is going to be a chance to prove if you can rock or play faster than MAB but of course it was not one there who can do it , there were 4 people including me i was the last one that played the longest solo too but that store gave a guitar to no one just to a little kid who got a ticket, so i was like raffle, so we have a good time and it was not argument or problem that day, i have pics of me playing on that store as well of Michael and a video i shooted.

Like I said, not all the challenges were bad. Many of them were fun!

Like others have said, I could care less if I got a guitar or not. I'd just love the chance to play with Michael . He may get me on speed, melody, sweeping, clarity etc. But I think I could get him on my own hybrid technique "Sweep Legato" lol..Well probably not but still..Id even pay him to play..$5 ..
