So with all this tapping talk what is your favorite song w/ tapping in it? One rule: If you say Eruption, you have to give your second favorite, hehe. Right now I am really in to Crazy Train, I think Rhoads sounded so great in that. My favourite tapping piece was Dave Murrays solo from the sign of the cross by iron maiden, i can play eruption and crazy train flawless and have my own versions too, luke has heard my version of crazy train. peace

I'd like to hear you jam crazy train! Got a url!?
I can't play it yet, but I am trying to learn it, as well as the solo to Sweet Child of Mine (my all time fav). So I have been practicing those when I take breaks. It's going ok, but I am working towards those faster parts now and realizing I need to hit the practice wagon w/ my technique some more before I dive into the rest. I can tap out the crazy train solo though, I like to use my pick for the hammer on 14 and 15. My finger doesnt reproduce me much sound, hehe.
These parts...
e -T--T----p------T--T----p------T--T----p------T--T----p----- B 14-14--10-7----14-14--10-7----14-14--10-7----14-14--10-7----
e -T--T----p------T--T----p------T--T----p------T--T----p----- B 15-15--10-7----15-15--10-7----15-15--10-7----15-15--10-7----

Ali's version of crazy train was really good i loved it its worth hearing as for the solo if the taps arn't sounding very well i suggest tapping harder (lol) and make sure your using your bridge pick-up its better and clearer for tapping.

Thankyou very much, I was first in a Led zeppelin tribute band, then an iron maiden one, then an ozzy one, then i got my own band, i can pretty much nail any ozzy or maiden song but randys tone is almost impossible to replicate, best tone ive ever heard peace

Awesome. It sounded awesome. How long have you been playing?
As for randys tone .. .. straight up gibson on the bridge pickup is about as close as I can come, all through a marshall and a metal zone.

only thing i can play from zep is stairway to heaven .. were going to do it in october at a benefit for local schools, plus 4 other tunes. Im not in a band, but I have a few people who wanted to get together and cover a few tunes so i figured what the heck. I worked on that stairway solo forever and im getting to a point where i am happy with it. Maybe i will post it sometime after we rehearse it. Everyone is learning their parts first and then well get together and see what happens. hehe

I did piano from age 7-12, 12-14 was violin then i got into guitar so thats roughly 7 yrs of playing in april, I have an HNC in music theory and i practice roughly 5 hrs a day including the time at college.
I did a duet with my girlfriend and we doubled the entire song (excluding the solo) of black star by yngwie malmsteen along with the backing track, we did it to raise money for the tsunami appeal.

When i was visiting a guitar school called the guitar institute, i saw loads of players who just sweeped constantly, 15yr old kids were playing trilogy suite etc, i really cant stand just shred shred shred for ages, what ever happened to tapping, harmonics or any other technique besides sweeping, we arent having a go at you, we are simply stating what we think could make it better and i dont think much people on the board would buy your 8mins shred sequences if it were released as a record, we grow as musicians through others, sometimes we get complimented, sometimes we get criticised but it makes us a lot better, when u record a song or a tune ask yourself "would i buy that?" Peace When I read this post I thought to myself "I think everyone needs to have a way they can record real complete compositions on this site that way people can hear things that are true artistic reflections of people who post things and not just showy "music store" playing."
