Hi guys
I've got a little question about the position of the right hand when playing the guitar (excuse me for my English, I try to speak English but... you know!!)
Indeed I noticed that Michael Angelo put the annular and the auricular fingers of his right hand on the guitar, under the strings. I do the same, it is very easy to play fast and to "control" the sound.
But I also noticed that sometimes you have to remove these fingers from the guitar, for instance when you want to play arpeggios (whithout a pick).
Mike, what do you think??

I adapt my right hand to what I'm playing. Sometimes I ancher, sometimes my hand is closed, somtimes I appegiate with my pick and the 3 fingers not holding the pick. I depends on what I wanna do. I can't dig in and do pinch harmonics while anchoring.

It is very good that you are thinking about the position of your right hand in all of these techniques. Positioning is the very first step in developing strong and consistent technique. Basically for every technique you have to find a balance between strength, economy, as well as adaptability in comparison to your other right hand positions. The main thing is that you find relaxed natural positions for these techniques, and that you are very consistent with them so you will develop more strength and control. I hope this helps you. Remeber, it's all just a big balancing act between relaxation and tension when it comes to accurately controling your hands.
