I agree with blackorchidx and Steve, they have a lot of great pointers. I like your determination toki, but like mentioned your statements do seem very bold especially at such a young age with no evidence to back it up as yet (not that age is always an issue with talent) If you go into it with the mindset that you aren't trying to be better than every guitar player out there, but rather be the best Derek that you can be, you will excell. This is why most of the greats are who they are, MAB is the best example.
Also as black mentioned, without a good understanding of the music you are playing, there isn't really anywhere to go. Imagine if Mozart learned to play by ear and didn't know an E from an A minor? You can see where this is going. I mean, being able to play by ear is a great thing and it helps you musically of course, but you can't rely on it to get you to Yngwie chops. If what you say is true, and you learned all the songs by ear (a little impractical I would say) then my hat is off to you, because I wouldn't have the patience.
Some of the licks I learned by ear, but most I started with the tabs. At this time though, I really don't need tabs because I have been playing for so long now that I can figure it out myself, but when I was your age it was 50/50 I think. Solos were a lot harder lol. Honestly though, I would read some books or get some DVDs to help you learn more of the music. You need to know what you are playing and why, all the greats have understood that fact. Don't be fooled by "shortcuts" advertised out there either because there are none.

Well just hitting power chords in general doesn't require practice lol. You can play "Master of Puppets" right??? The very first note = power chord.

Yup, Toki certainly has the determination but he has no idea what he's talking about. You can get as arrogant as you wish (when you're really good), Toki, but it's better to be modest at this time ;D It seems that you haven't been playing for very long, I suggest improving every aspect of your playing (intonation, touch, bend/vibrato, rhythm, sync. etc) and learn some theory.
I don't feel so confident about my playing yet (I know that I s**k), every time I post a recording here I brace myself for the criticism. There are some great players here, surely they'll be able to point out flaws in anyone's playing.

all im sayign is im pretty good and im trying to be positive on my difficult journey to godlyness ive been playign 2 yrs and im not tryign to be arrogant lol sry if it seemed like that i have a question for you, how many musicians who arent your friends or your family have said that you are pretty good? a lot of talent shows have family and friends supporting people when they arent too good, its better for "someone" to say you are good than "you" say you are good.
