Alice in Wonderland was really good. I have not read any of the books before, but I am told it follows it pretty closely anyways. It was very enjoyable.

Forest Gump is really good. The Pick of Destiny... mmm was alright.. it had its cool points and parts that I really could have done without. Maybe, if I was like in my teens I would have found it more appealing, like I did with Wayne's World.. My sense of humor has changed. Not that it was a bad movie, I'd watch it again once in a blue moon.. it just didn't really hit the funny bone you know. Alice in Wonderland is one I am on the fence about seeing. I am not a Johny Depp fan, but it looks interesting. So, I just might give it a go since you say it is good. I want to see Wolfman. How was it?

I watched Kingdom Of Heaven for the first time. Not really a great movie Tenacious D and the P O D, I didn't liked it, I liked more "school of rock". I'm waiting for the upcoming movie of "Tintin" by Spielberg, I'm impatient. I just wish it'll please me, I'm a fan of the adventures of Tintin.

Never heard of it I'll have to check it out.. thanks. I am kinda waiting for the Clash of the Titans remake I keep seeing adds for, but I got to be honest I am a little nervous about it. It was a good movie originally, IMO. But, I see some monster on the ad at the end that looks totally stupid. I am hoping that isn't what they did to the Krakken, otherwise that alone will kinda kill the whole thing.

"The Last Samuraï" is a great movie ! I watched yesterday "Tommy Boy" followed by "Black Sheep" and liked both. @erikrt: 'The adventures of Tintin' is a famous Belgian comics series, its author was called "Hergé".
And yes, most remakes aren't satisfying.

Erik I am also really REALLY looking forward to Clash of the Titans, the original is one of my favorites. I don't expect it to totally follow the original, but be it's own movie in a way, while remaining true where it needs to. Even if it ***s, the original is still there and untouched IMO. I love fantasy/mythological movies like this and I hope they remake Jason and the Argonauts now, I loved that movie even more. I do not know which monster you refer to...but I saw the Kraken, and it looks like it could be better on the head...but it's alot bigger than it seems in the picture, it looks better on the trailer.

I agree the original is untouchable for sure! Hopefully they do it good thou... cause I really dislike it when they take an old movie and remake it it turns out pretty lame. Yeah, that is the monster I was referring to. It looks lame, IMO. They showed no respect for the original Krakken. I am not sure why they would do that. It doesn't look scarier, IMO. It looks like a thousand other monsters they have created with the new animation.. whatever the proper term is. That is the prob with animation these days.. is yeah it looks more alive in ways... but in ways it really lacks in creativity and such.. and it is way over done these days. Why redo something if you are gonna do a worse version? Anyway, I will most likely still give the movie ago and TRY not to hold it up to the original.
Yeah, I hope they redo Jason and the Juggernauts as well.

Juggernauts..hehe
I understand your opinion completely. CGI has added alot to the industry, but then again it has taken some things away. The old stop animation tricks and puppetry were artforms, I loved them for their time, but movies are growing these days and I have just accepted it. I do love that we can now achieve things in movies that we never could before. The LOTR movies would never have been possible 20-30 years ago. The classics will just have to remain the classics. I do like it when I see use of puppets though, as rare as it is. Even Yoda was still a puppet in Episode I, but in the second they had to have him fight so CGI is understandable, and he did look really good.

Ooops ha ha I was in a hurry and wasn't thinking. Don't get me wrong. I don't completely hate it.. the animation, I mean. They just really should take their time and be more original with it. Also, relating directly to Clash of the Titans they very easily could have kept the looks or made the looks of the original Krakken better, more alive, rather then turn it into this rock headed looking thing.
But they have to be careful with coloring, portions and all that as well. Take the Hulk for example. I have always been a big fan of the hulk character. As innovative as that movie was, it still really lacked it making the hulk seem believably real. The coloring was off as well as the portions and muscle movements. They had Lou Ferrigno there, at least at some level and to not use him as a model for the CGI seemed kinda silly to me. Especially sense he was the hulk on the TV show. If they didn't want to use him for the movie to make it more over the top. I can understand cause there were good scenes that yes as a human he couldn't have done. But me personally, would have gone back watched the old TV shows and used at least some of the defining things like in make up appearance. Then had him be the basis on which the CGI character looked/moved like, build, muscle movement, etc.
But, CGI is cool and yes it is nice to see the advances, but at the same time I dislike it when things are TO over the top or coloring is all wrong or when they take a classic and ruin it for the sake of look at what we can do now. My answer is yeah I see what you can do now, but seriously did you have to take it that far or completely change it?
Take the newer Knight Rider for an example of something a little to over the top. I personally really liked the show by the way. But one thing that had me shaking my head was when they took the Mustang and had it turn into the truck. That was just a bit much you know? If it would have been a cloaking thing... OK well I might have been able to relate it. Even if the suspension raised a bit for the off road scene and there was a more off road looking vehicle but still had the looks of the Mustang would have been fine, but to literally trans form into a completely other vehicle that you can go buy... just bad taste.
Van Helsing had potential as well, but the CGI killed it.
I am a big fan of Star Wars. I can live with what they did there, but they really should redo 4,5 and 6 to bring them up to snuff. Thou, that would be a touchy one, ha ha.
LOTR I have no issues with at all, I like it! Animated films have come along way and I like the improvements there as well. My point is that yes CGI is a good thing and has allot of potential and will get even better in time. I really want to see Avatar. They just have to be careful not to over do things/take it toooo far, watch the coloring and blending. And if they are redoing a movie. I don't expect it to match everything perfectly... even changing the story line a bit is ok with me, but try at least to improve upon the characters and not completely change them. Stay true to the appearence, but make them better and more real looking, you know what I mean? It is just how I feel about it at this point.

Avatar was great everything seemed very real. I don't think they should do anything with the original trilogy...they have done enough. They should have left the Greedo scene alone too IMO. The Jabba scene added to A New Hope was interesting and gave us some Han Solo footage never seen to an audience before, but Jabba himself looked very poor and did not really look much like he did in RoTJ. Many of the other additions to the films really improved them IMO.

I don't think I have seen the newer versions of 4, 5 and 6. I still have the old VHS versions, ha ha! I guess I should someday submit to buying them all on DVD or blue ray should I ever decide to get a blue ray player, ha ha! Not sure how long that will take thou... prob until you can't buy a DVD anymore.. like I did with VHS. I was really angry when I went into a store and couldn't find a VHS anymore.. and I let them know that as well, ha ha! I wasn't happy about being forced to buy a DVD player at all! But, I have come to enjoy the benefits of them. Anyway, do you know if they are selling them all 1-6 in one package, yet?

The kind where you'd pay top dollar to strangle every actor in it. To bad it is that bad really... the subject matter holds allot of potential. Oh, I saw Old Dogs yesterday. It was a really funny movie. I think the adds with Seth Green, really made it unappealing. But my Mom and kid wanted to see it so... I was like whatever. But, I wound up laughing threw most the movie and really enjoyed it.
