Here is what I honestly recommend man. If you are the patient type. Hold off for a bit. Looks like line 6 will be releasing something new come NAMM. Me I am impatient and didn't do much research I just compared the amps in the local store. I had to wait three weeks for my guitar and it about drove me nuts, ha ha! But wasn't the dealers fault at all, they were watching out for me and when the guitar came in with a totally freak poor fret job... they immediately sent it back to be replaced. Anyway, Yeah I went with the bigger amp which has more features then the 30 watt you are looking for. So if you are stuck on the idea of a thirty watt...I couldn't tell you to much about them. I will say if you get either amp you may want to look at getting the floor board. It is the best way to get the most out of the amp. With mine I got the MKII short board which really isn't that short, ha ha! I can use line 6 edit and download updates and that. Makes it nice. If it is the loudness you are worried about and that is why the 30 watt instead of a bigger amp. If you are doing a solid state amp then volume isn't an issue. Mine is perfectly quite or as loud as I want it to be and like I said Line 6 has come along way... and prob is about to go even further... There is allot of good feed back about the vyper thou. I just don't really feel they did a good job replicating even there own amp sounds, in the smaller amps anyway.
Anyway bottom line of all that is.. if ya got the patience wait until a couple months after namm... as there are always some bugs to be worked out after a new release. Hopefully if you can do that you can swing to go bigger on the amp.
I wouldn't worry about the stigma attached to tube vs solid state. In all honesty it is getting to the point that you can hardly tell the difference if at all between the two if you do a proper set up. If done right most of it is a mental thing these days me thinks. Even when there is a gap in sound it keeps getting smaller. You'll always have the purists, but not everyone can afford it. So don't tell them what you got, ha ha!
I am just guessing but I am sure Peavey will come out with something new too... so you may have a whole new choices option??
I recommend the floor boards for any modeling amp. Unless you are planning on getting actual pedals... which kinda makes a modeling amp a mute point.
Best of luck man. Let us know what you do.
