I purchased a Jem 7v about 4 years ago. Didn't realize that the pickups were defected from the start. Anyway, had to send them back to Demarzio to be repotted. I know nothing about electronics, or soldering, but I had to disconnect them. Removed ground wire to tremelo springs, hot output jack wire soldered to middle lug of the volume pot (I believe) and ground wire from input jack grounded to the top of the volume pot. I recieved the pickups and soldered everything back exactly the way it was. Now, my volume control acts as a second tone control and nobody has a clue why? The ground wire from the output jack was the first wire soldered to the pot, along with several others on top of it. Now, it's not. Would that make a difference? These were the only three wires I disconnected. I sent all the controls intact, so I would be able to wire it back up myself.

It should look something like this: Wire that Evo single just like the humbuckers. If it sounds really weak and nasally switch hot and ground on it. Be sure to take into account the different color codes between SD and DiMarzio. (DiMarzio = Red/Hot - Black and White/North and South - Green and Bare/Ground) Good luck.

You're a lifesaver! This is the best diagram I've seen, and I already see the problem. THANK YOU!
