Hey guys, I see a bunch of you are from the UK, and I was wondering if you could help me out with an odd request.
I am learning to speak German, and one way I thought would be a fun way to help is to play video games in German. Problem is, PAL version games will not ship to the US (from a place like Amazon.com or something). I tried Ebay with no luck.
So I hoping if there was a way for someone in the UK to get the game for me and ship it out to me (I'll pay for it, obviously).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet as to finding European versions of games is to look for torrents or direct download of the BIOS online. Typically if you try to download said BIOS as long as they're from an older generation like the Playstation 1 and Gameboy games they can't really touch you because those games aren't in production anymore. And even if they could try to prosecute you for downloading the games for free they wouldn't waste their time doing so because they aren't making money off those games anymore. If you want to do this the cheap and easy way I will give you the information you need to know, and if you don't that's okay. I'm just telling you that I've done this before and as long as you stay a couple generations in consoles back (I.E. PS1, N64, GBA, etc etc.) they won't even bother trying to go after people. However if you try the same with newer consoles such as the PS2, Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc. you have a much higher probability of them trying to go after you because they still make games for most of those consoles and are still making money off those consoles and their games. Anyways let me explain a little bit about emulators and BIOS. There are game console emulators out on the internet that allow you to play games from your consoles on the PC. These programs depending on which console they're designed for can play games for that said console. In order to do so you have to have the BIOS, which can be found either online or by just having a physical copy of the game. FAIR WARNING downloading the BIOS is illegal, but as I said earlier if they aren't producing the games anymore I don't think they can get you on that, nor would they if they could. That's just the basics, if you want to know more about this you can research it.

Yes, depending on the game system it is easy to find the original ROMS and console EMULATORS that will play those ROMS. However, please do not post links to any ROMS on this forum. If you are trying to learn a foreign language through a game I suggest playing something text heavy like an RPG. The Final Fantasy series, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG are some good examples of Super Nintendo games that you should be able to find easily online, in multiple languages. Again, we do not condone this sort of thing here

Well I was hoping to avoid the hassle of the whole pirating thing
Is it not legal to send the actual game overseas?
Ive tried emulators before, and had some problems. And as far I remember there hasnt been an 'official' PS2 Emulator that is fully reliable.
Ill see what I can do...

I didn't know it was so hard to import foreign games, I bought device for my NIntendo DS imported via an overseas website a few years ago.. I think that particular site is down now but I'm sure there are others like it.
Although you must be careful, most video game systems are like DVD players, where discs from another region will not work. At least not without modifying your system.

I have Action Replay (PS2), which supposedly plays region-coded dvd's/games. Specifically Im trying to get Kingdom Hearts II (German), I found a copy of ot on Amazon.co.uk, but like I said it wont ship to the US. www.amazon.co.uk/Kingdom-Hearts-2-German-Version/dp/B002984OMG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1340943252&sr=8-3Ive tried contacting a few people to see if they could get it to me, but no luck. EDIT: I just found a copy of it on Amazon.de, and it ships to the US. It'll take about 2 weeks, but I'll get it! Often the best solution is the simplest...
