Do melodies come to you just out of the blue ?

I think his melodies sometime come out of the blue and i think he develops and structures his songs, once he gets a brief idea on what they are based on.

Well, as far as melodies and me lol..Sometimes I just hear them but it boils down to a spin-off of someone else's melody but I use them anyway..Then the other half the time I just base them on the song structure ..

when you have exercised your ears enough, like trying to recognize a minor from a major or a dominant 7 from a major 7 and stuff like that. It takes a lot of exercise to actually break all the brick walls betwean your head and your fingers, but when you have pracised this and broken down as many walls as you can you will start to be able to think of a sound and play it without further thinking. That's actually pretty amazing, and that is actually one of the most importand things in music, to excercise your musical ear.

At least I would like to be able to think of a cool melody and just play it like nothing could be simpler but with practise I might just fo that someday
