Mike, as you were growing up did you want to be the best player ever? I know that I am thinking that. (I am 14.) Now I am not the best player ever but I think I am decent for my age. But, what were you wanting to be or thinking growing up?

I dont want to be the best in the world, i just want to be able to play what i hear in my head. If i can do that then i will be more than happy.
I wouldnt mind being the best in the world however.

It takes more than your average shredder to be impressive. To impresses some one now a days is harder because everyone trys to play fast and they think their going to get all this attention. Well guess what you nothing until you can prove your supieor to all by knowledge, attributes, and doing what has not been done and something that can smash others playing to the ground not stupid improving or your common shred song. Thats why MAB impressed me with his ability to play ACCURATELY which 99/100 do not and the way he composes and uses gimics! I LOVE IT! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

yeah i agree with coolguy, its harder and harder to get famous through shred because everyone ha sdone it before you need to do somehting different, like Gilbert with that drill, that was insane.
Mike has his double guitar.
Fareri is probably the fastest guy on the planet.
Yngwie plays in an original and unique style which many, such as george bellas have imitated.
Stanley Jordan oplays two handed tapping jazz, which btw is incredible.
You get the picture.

What you want then Jamie is perfect pitch and knowing all the notes off by heart on the fretboard, and i reckon you'll be well away jamie!

Steve Vai once said (and im not directly quoting this i dont have the book with me)....
There are those who can play with an incredible amount of technical ability, there are those who have no technical ability but a great sense of melody and there are those freaks who have it all.
