Rat(t ?), Boss distortion pedals etc. Go to a guitar shop and try to find the one you like, that's the best advice I can give you.

Distortion is mostly for rhythm, overdrive for leads. Thats not really definition but i can see what you mean. Distortion is more aggresive(has more gain) while overdrive is more mild(less gain). Distortion alters your signal alot more and compresses a ton more than overdrive does. Adji, if you play stuff like angelo and need about the same amount of gain than just a tubescreamer wont do you much good. It's good if you use it to boost the preamp on your amp and that your amp is already overdriven( or distorted) , especially on tube amps! A really great distortion pedal is the tonebone hotbritish tube pedal from radial eng.( a canadian company). It is kinda moddeled after a jcm800 exept it has alot more gain and really many cool features wich will give almost any tone you desire. You can soundclips at www.tonebone.com. Cheers!

Overdrive, distortion and fuzz is three different ways to descripe the same ting. When You overdrive (putting to much signal into) a electroinc circuit some components will start to distort (ie compressing the loudest harmonics and raising the weaker one) and create a fuzzy tone.
Mostly overdrive is concidered less radical than distortion and fuzz is a more vintage (Hendrix/Cream)style distortion. But sometime the the borders are blurred. Go try out a much of pedals and find what You like and what suits Your style.
