For a chunky thrash right now I use Gain: 8.5 Low:7.2 Mid:3 High:7.8 Best with drop d or down tuning. But really it all depends on the amp.

Make sure your mids aren't too low or you won't "cut" through. Also if you mike your speakers from the front push up your mids.

I use a JCM 900 and i use these settings.
Gain - 1 o clock Pre - amp - full Precence, Mids and Bass - 2 o clock Treble - 3 o clock
Then i crank the volume to 12 o clock and add a Boss DS-1 with the Tone on 2 clock, Level full and gain off. This boosts the signal abit a gives a tighter and punchier sound. It's really good for death metal sounds.

having the mid maybe half way (it differs from amp to amp) gives you more crunch and a thrashier sound, which is more audible in the mix, as deviantnature said.

Just hope you don't have a crappy AMP otherwise don't ask because your wasting your time.Alot of AMP's not a days have this annoying habbit of being non-tweakable unless you kill almost everything.I wouldn't know what to recommend because I don't have your AMP and I don't know of it's performance but I recommend playing with it.I know I hate bass I usally kill out both Bass and Mids or just the Bass and let the treble soar =D!

SWEET ASS AMP. It sounded better than the JCM by a landslide. I think they had bad cabs. for the JCM at the Sam Ash near me but either way my Guitar Research Half Stack sounds exactly like it but than again alot of AMP's sound like the JCM now a days. But I played the AVT's with the ESP F-400 I think? The one with the barb wired inlay and EMG-81's and it was such a smokin AMP!
