OK... so (like i said in another section) i got a new electric guitar ;D, and for a first clip with it i thought 'what the hell', and tried jamming along to "Gray Pianos Flying" (which scares the hell outa me). This is the first video i took, i though it was pretty crap because i kinda flubbed part of the early ascending section (and i was intending to delete this one, to do some better ones), and also when i watched it back i noticed how risque my shorts were! ;D ... so i went and put some jeans on to do some better takes, but i got so friggin hot and sweaty and bothered that i gave up (probably because i hate the thought of people hearing me play, so i always close the windows, and end up geting too hot). Anyway.... here's me trying to jam over part of "Gray Pianos Flying" (*flame suite on*) www.speedyshare.com/860566868.htmlAny thoughts? (about the playing/tune..... not my ugly mug, hehe) WJ.

that was awesome in my view, of course it aint perfect but its smoother than my shots at that song. ive got a rework of one of my old songs going up soon to show the improvement in my vibrato and overall control, hopefully good news too haha
keep it up willy that was awesome

Hey thanks guys! .... i reeaally appologise for my worse than ever slowness for replying to anyone lately... my baby daughter (second one) was born about a month ago, and she's a bit of a Diva, lol... VERY demanding! Anyway... about my video ;D ...... Cheers for the comments ( way too kind)... this actual take was never intended to be shown anywhere.... i was just trying it out for the first time for the camera, and i hated that take, for mistakes i did (a couple of notes didn't ring out properly in the ascending section, right before the alt picking), and dodgy phrasing on the intro. I also had some shorts on, and already have enough trouble "keeping in 'em" ;D... so i went to put some trousers on to do a proper take or two, but i got too hot, sweaty and bothered by that point (i always close the windows when i'm on the amp... don't like the thought of anyone hearing me). So, after getting all hot and worked up about it, i decided i'd have to use that dodgy attempt, rather than binning it..... appologies! I just used the Digital camera we bought a month or two ago (i got it so i could take lots of pics of my daughter who was born a month ago). It has a video mode, so i used that, and connected it direct to the computer and uploaded it. Cheers. WJ.

That picking technique SHOULDN'T work!........... but it does, which is all that matters.
The best players on this forum have a Maverick guitar. \m/ oo \m/
Have you decided on an amp yet?

Looks more like what Rusty Cooley SHOULD have used ;D It doesn't look and sound very Shawn Lane, though. Lane's arching his thumb way back resulted in that interesting picking hand, it's very easy for crossing strings and fast (I mean really fast - there's much less friction than picking in a standard Gilbert like style) You're a very accurate picker, probably the best in this forum
