Hello, hope everyone is doing well. I thought i'd post a video of me playing my new song. The last song i posted didn't go down too well understandably as it was just a jumble of odd time signatures so i took what was said and tried to give this one more structure. The intro is still quite out there with time signatures, but its mostly 12/8 and 4/4 for the rest. The leads i'm not playing are meant to be vocal melodies. The video quality is terrible, and the playing is almost as bad haha, but i'm quite happy with the song overall, so please let me know what you think, criticism, praise, whatever, thanks p.s sorry about the length, got carried away

need to work on that vibrato (lead player)... i take it its you... because I sense the same vibrato/touch in your playing in the video.
The song works I think, not my style but its ok... some spots need to be auto tuned... some sharp notes in the solo especially... obviously you need to have a better way to record this... tone is not too good and the whole thing sounds underwater because of the compression of the cam.

**listening again, you HAVE to work on that vibrato and also on which notes to stop on... both things are hurting this thing 10000%, if the vibrato was better the whole thing would come together alot better. Its fast and tiny, very ugly and usually covers about a 1/4 tone.

ok, thanks for the advice man, i'm actually quite happy with the tone, but it doesn't come through so well in the crappy camera phone mic. I've thought my vibrato needed work for a while now, just been sort of lazy with. I think i'll start to work on that from now on. Did you notice the guitar is out of tune? haha the intonation has gotten steadily worse over the last few years. When you say i need to work on which notes to stop on, do you mean the solo, or the whole song?
Thanks again for the advice.

i HATE prog lol, so couldnt watch all the video. The tone sounds okay to me, probably jsut the recording. Most of the playing is great from what i watched but found the compsotion boring (then again i really dont like prog so dont know much about it lol). I only got two mins in and couldnt listen to anymore lol sorry.

All what i thought has been said already thus far in the thread.
I noticed the guitar was out of tune & the bend/vibrato off pitch and my ears aren't all that good so i'd get the guitar set up by a pro & work on developing your bends & vibrato because these are things which alot of people cotton on to.
You could play some of the best licks/lines/phrases known to man but if you're out of tune, then that playing is essentially nulled cos people wont noticed the great licks.

Thanks again for the replies so far guys. I hope to get my guitar tuned up at the end of the month when i get paid, but it means sending it away which is going to be expensive in itself because where i live there are no music shops for over 100 miles I've just started to work on my vibrato which is quite boring, but will be a good decision in the long run. What did you think of the riffs/song itself ignoring the poor playing?
