What is this MAB over/under technique or the hand with no shadow?

I have never been a huge fan of the under over thing. It doesn't really yield anything other than some rather unclear notes *Puts flamesuit on*, but I do like when he flips his hand over and plays scales or sweeps ( ) like that. I think the over under thing refers to when he staccato/muted picks with his pick hand and quickly hammers notes with his fretting hand "over/under" the neck. He does it on the No Boundaries videos, but on the studio song there are some cool runs at that point instead. I guess it is one of his trademark moves so to each his own.

Sorry NightWolf, It would be easyer to play on a 24 Fret guitar put you can either play the song a tone lower or make up your own parts for where he uses the 24. Adding your own stuff to it can be cool

(mine just have 22 ) The 24th fret doesn't come into play that often during the song, so you could always play over the neck pickup where you think the 24th fret would be, as Michael suggests in Speed Lives.

Yeah playing over the pickup is a good way to get used to the section and then when you do eventualy play a 24 fret guitar you will be able to play the section.

I have many questions. (My English is very bad please forgive it me) Okay for my first question I must tell you which happened. The first shredd I'd hear was your Speed Lives. Since this moment I want to be a Shredder to. I practice every day and every night. But I everybody needs money. So I will be guitarteacher. I want to study music. But here in germany you can`t study with the Electric Guitar. So I want to study only the music theory. But for that I don't get a diploma. All people say to me every day you must have a diploma. Think for the future. if you will be a teacher You don`t get enough money without a diploma. Okay that can be right, but I want not be a teacher mainly. That must I do thus i have enough money for meal. Meanly I want to be a shredder. A Musican. I love the music. I can study in the Netherlands. There I can study with e-guitar, but jazz only. And jazz is not my music. You, Jason Becker, Steve Vai and Rusty Cooley you are my heros. And I want to make music likes your music, likes Beckers music, likes Vais music, likes Cooleys musik and above all my music. I love Shredd. I love Neo classic. I love classic. But I dont like the classical guitar. I love my e-guitar. Would you in my place everything done thus you have a surely job as a teacher, or would you play Guitar and do all for your music? How had you get your money when you were not popular? What had you done thus you be so a good musican? Oh its al long question. But I think you are the friendliest guitar player who can help me. My second question is not so long. I had seen the speed kills video where you play a guitar with 29 frets. I want to have a guitar with 29 frets to. But all people have said to me the this is not good. They said buy you a sevenstring with a high a-string. But that people never played a guitar with 29 frets, so I ask you what is better? Seven string or 29 frets?

Hi psychoshredder Second question first: a 29 fret guitar would mean a custom handbuildt guitar and they are very expensive. Most people say that You can play No Boundaries on a standard 24 fret guitar and even a 22 fret. Check back on this very thread starting on page 12.
First question: Even though You wanna shred, You can learn many things from both Jazz and Classical. So getting a diploma won't be such a bad thing. You can always study Mike and other shredders in Your sparetime. and the Diploma will get Your parents of Your back;). Think about this: What would You rather do in school, play classical guitar or learn how to build a house or something?
Good Luck

Hi Michael, I have 2 questions for you: 1) The new album which is advertised on the front of angelo.com sounds pretty cool. I was just wondering what to expect from this. I see Jim Gillette is performing on it. Will this mean that all the tracks will have vocals or will he just be making a sort of guest appearance? I really think you two guys work perfectly together. What should we expect from this album in terms of style etc? 2) I had a listen through your sound files on the angelo.com site and listened to the Freight Train one. I notice that this is a lot different from the Freight Train I have on my version of O.F.R. How come this is? How come two different versions of the track exist? Are they just two different studio takes? I understand that these aren't really technical questions, sorry. Thanks a lot Mike and keep shredding! James, the version of 'Freight train' you heard is from the Nitro disc 'Gunnin' For Glory'. The 'Freight train' on the site is actually a demo version of the song. 'Gunnin' For Glory' is available through angelo.com. Check it out for more information..

Well. ive bought both DVD's. I have a question, in speed kills, the double guitar section, when michael plays a riff in the left neck and a solo on the right one, that riff is cool!! I'd like to know if there are any tabs for it. Or if he has any CD with that songs, its so cool I would love to know how to play it ;D

Most people say that You can play No Boundaries on a standard 24 fret guitar and even a 22 fret. Check back on this very thread starting on page 12. Okay but I won't play only Speed Kills. I want to have so many tones for my own musicexperimentes. So I must decide me whether I buy me a 7 String or a 29 Fretguitar. Much people said that with 29 frets there is no place for neckpickup and the last frets are to short. And I think on a 7 String guitar the highest string is too thinly. And I think wehn Michael plays with 29 frets then can it not be wrong. I want to buy me a Customshop guitar in any case. First question: Even though You wanna shred, You can learn many things from both Jazz and Classical. So getting a diploma won't be such a bad thing. Because of this perhaps I want to study in netherlands with my electricguitar. But I want to know in what way Michael got his money when he was not popular. I want to know how the people who are professional musicans now got their money in former times
