Mine were maybe $.75 a piece but I've had the same one now for 3 or 4 months. Just don't lose em and you have to buy very few ..

Matt - Michael personaly thinks Dean Guitars are the best in the world Slash - I know that Michael had masterd the Alternate Pciking technique at the age of 16 also at 14 he was playing Jazz and by 16 won an award for outstanding Jazz soloist on guitar. Aquaman - I'm guessing he's about 6ft

I have never seen MAB live, but i know that in concert he does parts in songs where he plays two necks at once. Are there parts in any of his songs where he actually employs this technique in the studio or is just a live thing? I have No Boundaries and Planet Gemini so if there are sections like this on those cds I would like to know since it is just as easy to overdub harmonized lines. Does he do the double neck thing on the Speed Kills video?

It's just a live thing. On the Speed Kills DVD there is a section where Michael talks about the Double Guitar and then plays it.

Hey all.
I'm new to the forum. and i have a few questions for michael angelo. I'm ordering the DVD and i am stoked.
Anyway to my questions: first of all, i hear you use a special kind of pic for shred. a pic i believe plucks the string twice? umm where can i find it. also what do you think of the european metal scene? there is a wealth of progressive, neo classical you name it metal bands out there. check out sonata Arctica, Wuthering Heights, and any projects by Richard Andersson. if you have already heard these. i wanna know what you think of them?
anyway i hope your dvd will help my pickin a bit.
you rock!

yeah the vocals are great! and plus the singer is self taught. for some reason i learned black sheep 3 months ago. and i can't stop playing it! so catchy! it is currently my official warmup song! and it's not that difficult. sonata and wuthering heights use a lot of folk type melodies in the guitar solos. i think michael should should study a bit of folk music and slickly insert them into his songs. that would be cool... holy crap. reading this thread made me found my old jazzIII pick. its so small. i am curently shredding with it right now! sounds a bit clearer than my usual chicken scratches! ranma187. add me to your msn dude (to doll whatever your name is)

Are you sure? I'm sure he plays it on an intro to the second solo on Freight Train. Then again, that could just be 2 seperate guitars dubbed

What made Michael decide that he was going to train himself to be ambidexterous and how old was he at the time?

There are any number of places in his songs that he could be doing it though. I always thought that the last set of harmonized solos in The Jam Game could be him doing the double neck thing.

That's a good question. I'll ask Michael if he played the double on the Nitro album...However, Luke is correct in that the double guitar is used exclusive for live performances. As the inventor of the double guitar, Michael set his own signature style, and while others also play the double, Vai, etc.. Michael will always be the pioneer inventor of the Double V Neck guitar. Another style unique to Michael is the invention of the "over/under" technique. I spoke with Michael at length this morning regarding updates on the NAMM show. He said that while at NAMM he has seen several booth performers who are now including the "over/under" in their performance. He was extremely flattered by their desire to copy his technique and encourages guitar players to give it a try. We who support Michael will always know that he was the very first to ultilize this personal signature style. It is our job to make sure the world is always aware of that fact! In 10 years, when all the best guitarist's are playing "over/under" we want them to remember where the style came from! How tall is Michael? hmmm. Never measured him but he's just a tad shorter than my husband which would put him at 6 feet. Practice time? I know in the beginning his practice would go from 6-10 hours daily. Now, with a heavy schedule he still practices every free minute. I'd think 4-6 hours daily is a reasonable time for serious guitarists to practice. It still leaves time for schoolwork and family, and will give you the chops you'll need for the long haul.

I have started to use Michaels "over/under" technique and alot have people have been impressed by it and i answer to them "I learn't this off my guitar hero Michael Angelo" which in a way is promoting him through my playing. ;D

From this point on, let's call Michael's special over/under technique the "MAB over/under". We can refer to it that way on forums, in conversation, and media releases.

Guess what? Michael had the Chinese symbols for "Hands with no shadow" tattooed on his arm! It looks awesome and will always mean a lot to him.
